They have been in business for longer than ten years than CVT, so it’s not surprising that they have learned what it takes to thrive in a competitive industry. The one aspect of Tepui that has decreased since being bought by the Swedish Global Goliath Thule is their customer service. My only criticism of the senior player would be that larger companies can lack a personal touch.
The brand-new Foothill, on the other hand, represents one of the most significant advancements in soft shell games since they began to be imported into the US more than ten years ago. The Foothill is made to take up half as much room on your roof as a conventional softshell while still sleeping two people in comfort. This makes it possible to finally use the tent while towing a kayak or bike rack beside it.

Finally, Roam has made a sneak peek of their future hard shell release available. The good news is that it doesn’t behave like any other hardshell we’ve seen previously, in a classic Roam manner. Roam’s latest hardshell, the Rambler, borrows design cues from its tough casings.
Similar to previous tents, the shell of this one is reinforced with fiberglass and ABS. On the interior as well as the outside, it differs from the others. The Roam is robust, much like the cases, with a rough texture and ribbed roof design, so forget about that slick finish with silly designs claiming greater aerodynamics.
There are more amenities inside the tent than just two entrances and two arched windows. The Rambler has two enormous panoramic windows that allow you to enjoy 360-degree views. The tent is the ideal width for 2 people and your 4Runner tents without appearing overly big, measuring 84″x50″x11″.
The tent is slated for release in March 2022, and even though we haven’t really seen it, we’re eager! We’ll be trying to get our hands on this to examine the latches and see how the opening and shutting functions. These two elements frequently make or ruin hardshell designs. The simplicity of use is ultimately why people pay hardshell pricing; if it’s difficult, we won’t buy it. Still, I’m enthusiastic about this one and can’t wait to share more soon!
